Our top 3 non-negotiables for summer skin
Our Australian summer is not exactly pristine conditions for the skin… So much heat, sweat, humidity and UV exposure. If we don’t protect our skin throughout these hot months, and replenish it with the right skin care for the season, then we will come out the other end losing that healthy, lustrous glow.
While we don’t suggest changing up your entire skincare ritual, we do have a few non-negotiables!
#1 - Scale up your Vitamin C serum
Vitamin C is important all year round, but it’s your best-friend in summer! Vitamin C provides a long list of amazing benefits to your skin:
- Super hydrating, with thanks to the Hyaluronic acid and Aloe Vera
- Helps fade pigmentation and dark spots
- Soothes inflamed skin and evens out the skin tone
- Boosts the collagen levels for more plump skin
- Rich in antioxidants to protect healthy skin cells
For our Vitamin C boost, we love applying our Kakadu Brightening Serum.. It’s also perfect to apply after some unexpected sun exposure, as it really calms the skin.
#2 - Don’t skip your moisturiser
While our skin can feel a little ‘heavier’ throughout the warmer months and it’s tempting to skip your daily moisturiser, please don’t! The only exception is if you have young, oily skin. Hot weather and sweat can strip your skin of moisturiser, and unfortunately so can the cool air-con that keeps us sane/comfortable. Applying your moisturiser daily ensures you're protecting your skin against the environmental aggressors and locking in moisture.
We suggest trying our Light Hydrating Moisturiser for a day-time moisturiser if you prefer a lighter product during this time, but one that still delivers rich antioxidants & hydrating ingredients.
#3 - Protect your skin from the sun!
We always preach the importance of sun-protection all year round, so it goes without saying that this is extra important throughout the hot summer. Over-exposure to the sun can cause premature ageing, pigmentation, collagen & elastin breakdown, dehydration…and of course skin cancer. When you look after your skin with nourishing & effective skincare, it would be counterintuitive to bask in the sun.
